A 16-year-old was injured in a shooting on Porter Road, and authorities confirmed an 18-year-old was taken into custody for the crime.
Authorities said the shooting happened around 9 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Save-A-Trip market in the 1500 block.
Witnesses said the suspect, 18-year-old Josh Raines, was at a gas pump when he got into an argument with the victim.
Authorities said that's when Raines allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and fired. The victim was hit twice.
The 16-year-old was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was listed in serious, but stable condition.
Police said Raines, along with his 21-year-old passenger, fled from the scene in a truck that had been reported stolen.
Officials recovered the truck in an alley near the intersection of Chapel Avenue and Douglas Avenue.
Raines was found walking in the 1400 block of Chester Avenue. He was taken into custody and admitted to his involvement in the shooting. He also admitted that he abandoned the stolen truck in the alley.
No charges were anticipated against the 21-year-old.
Raines was charged with attempted criminal homicide, gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony, and vehicle theft. He was being held in lieu of a $380,000 bond.
