NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police have arrested a teenager in connection with at least two robberies and a pursuit in Nashville.
Metro police said 16-year-old Geovani Moreno was taken into custody after he bailed from a stolen vehicle Friday night.
He and another suspect are accused of robbing a man at the Mosaic Apartments and then taking off in the victim’s car. Minutes later, police said they robbed a woman of her purse.
Officers spotted the car about an hour later on Nolensville Pike, but Moreno allegedly fled. They deployed spike strips as he bailed from the car.
Investigators said he had a handgun in his waistband when he was taken into custody. They said the gun had been reported stolen from a vehicle in 2018.
Police also recovered items taken during the robberies and a backpack containing 170 grams of marijuana and 11 Xanax pills.
During an interview, police said Moreno admitted his involvement in the hold-ups and claimed the backpack to be his. He was charged in Juvenile Court with aggravated robbery.
Investigators are still working to identify the second suspect.
