16-Year-Old Girl Killed In Murfreesboro Crash

A crash in Murfreesboro claimed the life of a teenager.

The wreck happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday on South Church Street at Joe B. Jackson Parkway.

Police said the 16-year-old driver of a pickup truck failed to stop for a red light and hit a van.

An adult and two children were riding in the bed of that pickup, and all three were ejected. Authorities confirmed a 16-year-old girl died.

The 16-year-old driver was seriously hurt. All victims remained hospitalized as of Monday evening.

The two people in the van were not hurt. Police said they believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
