NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro police said the search continues for the person who shot a 16-year-old girl during an attempted robbery outside an ATM in Antioch.

The girl was at a Bank of America ATM on Bell Forge Lane around 10 p.m. Sunday night when police said a man approached her with a gun. When she tried to drive away, he shot at her car. The girl was hit in the back.

She still managed to drive about 4 miles to her home on Wakiki Boulevard, where she called 911. Police said she was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for surgery. At last report, she was in stable condition.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video of the incident from nearby businesses.

The gunman left the scene in an older model, tan, 4 door car.

Drivers who frequent the ATM say they generally feel safe there because it is located in a busy, well-lit parking lot.

"I’ve never had issues," said Lisa Bohannon. "I come here during the day and night, and I always feel safe. I never would have expected that to happen at that ATM."

Anyone with information is asked to call Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
