A 19-year-old has been arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder.
Reports stated officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department took Abel A. Villagrana, of Murfreesboro, into custody for criminal attempt to commit first degree murder and especially aggravated burglary.
Reports stated Villagrana was arrested shortly after midnight, early Monday morning, in the parking lot of the Best Western on Chaffin Place.
He was wanted by the Shelbyville Police Department for his reported involvement in a violent home invasion.
That crime happened around 5 p.m. Sunday at the Ridge Apartments on Anthony Lane in Shelbyville.
He was allegedly armed with a semi-automatic handgun at the time of the burglary.
Authorities said Villagrana reportedly shot Deonte Taylor multiple times. He then fled to Murfreesboro.
Officials said the shooting was believed to be retaliatory, possibly because of an overdue drug debt. The investigation continued.
