NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two men were indicted on first-degree murder charges relating to an August 2018 deadly shooting in North Nashville.

Metro police said the shooting was believed to be motivated by retaliation for a murder the victim, 23-year-old Deion Woodruff, was accused of committing months earlier.

This week, two years after the shooting, officers arrested 24-year-old Donald Brown. He is being held in jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond. Police said 25-year-old DeAnthony Fletcher was also indicted on first-degree murder charges and additionally charged with evidence tampering. Fletcher is currently incarcerated at a federal penitentiary in Illinois and will be booked in Nashville at a later date.

At the time of his death, Woodruff was wanted for the deadly shooting of 21-year-old Marqondis Thompson inside the Medusa hookah bar on Church Street.

Police said later that summer, Woodruff was shot inside Fletcher's car and his body was pushed onto the pavement. The car was later found on fire in Williamson County with the license plate and VIN number removed.
