A man wanted in connection with a stabbing in Clarksville was taken into custody after police found him sitting in a vehicle.
Clarksville Police said Dalton Lawrence was arrested around 1:30 a.m. after officers were called to Madison Street for a welfare check.
Lawrence had apparently been sitting in the vehicle for about an hour. He had been wanted in connection with a stabbing back on November 1.
Police said the victim and his girlfriend had given Lawrence a ride to a location to hang out with friends. While they were inside, Lawrence allegedly took off in the victim’s 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier without his permission.
Police said he returned a short time later without the car and an altercation ensued. At some point, the victim was stabbed.
Lawrence also allegedly threatened the man’s girlfriend with the knife.
He was taken into custody Monday and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and theft of a motor vehicle. Police said they also found methamphetamine and unlawful drug paraphernalia on him.
