A man has been charged with vehicular assault after three people were injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 24 in Antioch.
Officials said a driver, 24-year-old Christian Lopez, was traveling the wrong way on I-24 east near Bell Road, and another vehicle head-on Sunday morning.
He and the driver of the other vehicle were trapped for a short time, and had to be extricated, but did not appear to have life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle was carrying two men. All three of the people involved were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Officers found two 12-packs of beer in Lopez's backseat and several empty cans in the front.
The roadway was closed for about two hours.
