3 Killed In Decatur Co. Crash On I-40 East

Three people were killed in a crash on Interstate 40 East in Decatur County.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, ten vehicles were involved in the crash that happened just after 6 p.m. Thursday.

The wreck took place near mile marker 126, close to the Decatur-Benton county line. All eastbound lanes were closed as a result.

Reports stated traffic was stopped for a semi fire in that location. One vehicle hit another causing a chain-reaction crash.

Officials have released the identities of the victims who were killed in the crash. According to reports, 38-year-old Gregory Sledge died in the wreck. He was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze.

His two passengers, 58-year-old Tommy Sledge and 61-year-old Joretha Sledge, also passed away.

Three other victims were injured in the crash. Eight people were not injured.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials were investigating the crash.
