The fourth and final inmate who escaped from the Overton County Jail was captured.
Authorities searched for an escaped inmate who remained at-large after three others were recaptured.
Officials in Overton County said the four inmates escaped around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Reports stated they were in the pod they’re housed in, and they were able to make their way through a service door in the ceiling that leads to the attic.
According to officials, the four were somehow able to manipulate the lock to get into the attic, tear the air conditioning ductwork out, and exit onto the roof.
Authorities said they’re still investigating the escape.
Three of the four escapees were captured early Thursday morning, and the fourth, Jason Thomas Atnip, was arrested that evening around 5:30 p.m.
Atnip was described as standing around 5’11’’ tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. Authorities believed Atnip had been in jail for burglary and theft under $500.
