(WTVF) — The old saying goes "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." This is yet another example.
The scam says grocery chain Publix is offering a free $80 coupon to celebrate the store's 75th Anniversary. It leads you to a site with a few questions about shopping at Publix, then offers the coupon, but only if you share the scam to your own Facebook page. There is even a fradulent "feed' of Facebook comments thanking Publix for the coupon.
"We have been made aware of a $80 fraudulent coupon that appears to be offered by Publix," a spokesperson said. "Please be aware that the coupon is not supported by Publix and is not valid at any of our locations. We recommend that customers not participate in the promotion or provide any personal information. We are working diligently to investigate this issue."
