NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Academy of Country Music is moving its 55th ACM Awards to Nashville.
The show was originally scheduled to air live from Las Vegas on April 5. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the show was postponed to September and a television special featuring country artists performing form their homes aired instead.
Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of County Music, announced Monday that for the first time ever, the awards will be held in Nashville.
The ACM will use the Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium and Blue Bird Cafe as venues for the show.
The academy has not yet decided if an in-person audience will be allowed during the awards show. Whiteside said that decision will be made closer to the date.
The 55th annual ACM Awards will air live on Wednesday, September 16 at 7 p.m. on NewsChannel 5. Keith Urban will host.
The ACM's philanthropic arm ACM Lifting Lives has distributed $1.4 million for economic relief to those in the music industry.
