Alabama Man Charged In Maury County Hostage Situation

A man faces multiple charges following a hostage situation at a Maury County bank.

The ordeal began Friday when police said 53-year-old Douglas Roach from Cherokee, Alabama walked into the Community First Bank and Trust in Columbia and took nine people hostage.
Police said he was wielding a machete.

After nine hours of negotiations, Roach finally came out of the bank and was taken into custody.

Officials said he’s facing multiple charges of aggravated assault and especially aggravated kidnapping.
