Anniversary Ceremony Held For Smoky Mountain Wildfires

Officials with the City of Gatlinburg and Sevier County honored the victims of the Smoky Mountain Wildfire with in a one-year anniversary ceremony.

Tuesday's event recognized the 14 victims as well as  first responders and give thanks for the progress made on the community’s recovery in the year following the disaster.

The ceremony also included an announcement about a lasting memorial to remember the 14 who perished on November 28, 2016.

The service was open to the public at the Rocky Top Sports World Complex - the venue that helped thousands of Gatlinburg residents and visitors as the community relief shelter in the days following the devastating wildfires.
