ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WTVF) — Antioch High School will be allowed to participate in football playoffs this year after the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association lifted its restrictive probation.

On October 26, 2018, football players from Antioch and John Overton High School got into a brawl following the rivalry game. The fight lasted several minutes, causing Metro officers to be called in.

The high schools were banned from participating in post season play in 2018 and 2019 and were each fined $2,000. As a result, both head coaches resigned and multiple students were suspended or disciplined.

During a TSSAA Board of Control meeting on August 19, Antioch Principal Clarissa Zellars presented to the board initiatives the school is taking in regards to sportsmanship. The board voted to lift the ban on playoffs for this season.

The football program will remain on probation through the end of the school year.
