Armed Robbery Reported Near Vanderbilt University

An armed robbery was reported near Vanderbilt University Friday afternoon.

University officials released a security notice on their website and to students, due to the theft's proximety to campus.

Metro Nashville Police officials said it happened in the driveway between Panera Bread and Starbucks on 21st Avenue South.

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’8″, with shoulder-length brown hair and wearing a jean jacket and black-and-gray gym shorts.

He was armed with a handgun and was last seen in a gray vehicle with front bumper damage, possibly a Chevy Malibu.

The vehicle was last seen headed away from campus on 21st Avenue South toward downtown.

Anyone with information was asked to call police.
