An arrest has been made nearly one year after a man was shot dead at a Nashville apartment complex.
Officials with Metro police said 25-year-old Eric Freeman has been indicted on first-degree murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Anthony Barbee.
Barbee was shot on the afternoon of January 26 at the Village on the Green Apartments, located on Ed Temple Boulevard.
Police said shots were fired in the parking lot of the complex. Barbee ran behind one of the buildings and collapsed. He later died at an area hospital.
Witnesses told police that the gunman fled in a black Mustang.
Moments later, Freeman reportedly showed up in a Mustang -- which was full of bullet holes -- at a Tennessee State University campus checkpoint.
Freeman also had a gunshot wound in the back and claimed Barbee was the one who shot him during an attempted robbery.
He was taken into custody on Apple Court in south Nashville. Police said he also faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
Freeman was jailed on a $100,000 bond.
