NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Ashley Mason's family has been waiting for justice in her death. Saturday, family and friends held a rally at the state capitol.
Ashley died in May after doctors said she had a brain bleed. Officials have ruled the death accidental, but Ashley's family members have been disputing that.
They said they believe she was a victim of domestic violence by her long-time boyfriend.
“There's just, there's no way,” said Laura Mattson, Ashley’s mother. “We all knew, even her friends knew, that this one day was going to happen, and we couldn't get her to stay away. She loved him.”
The group said they now hope to raise awareness about domestic violence and urge others who may be facing similar situations to speak up and get help.
