At Least 6 Dead, Others Injured In 9-Car Wreck In Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Media outlets in Chattanooga have reported that at least six people have died following a nine-car crash on Interstate 75.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Thursday at mile marker 11 on I-75 North in Hamilton County.

According to CBS affiliate WDEF, at least six have died in the crash that involved more than 15 people.

Chattanooga police are apparently still working to identify just how many people were involved due to multiple patients being taken to various hospitals.

More than 12 hours later, traffic in the area was still partially blocked. Northbound traffic was diverted to alternate routes.

According to Chattanooga police, the interstate has reopened.
