Auto-cycle crash on Murfreesboro Pike leads to death of one

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was killed in an auto-cycle crash in Antioch Friday night.

The crash happened around 9 p.m. on Murfreesboro Pike, near Mountain Springs Road. According to Metro police, the preliminary investigation suggests the auto-cycle - a three-wheeled motorcycle called a Polaris Slingshot - was traveling northwest on Murfreesboro Pike from Hobson Pike, in the left lane.

The cycle passed by one vehicle, merged to the right to pass another vehicle, then veered off the right side of the road.

Striking a telephone pole, the cycle came to a stop on the right side of the road.

The driver of the cycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metro Nashville Police Department's crash investigation unit is conducting the investigation.
