NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A barber shop in South Nashville wanted to make sure every kid has a good look for school.
Zelle's Barbershop on Mufreesboro Pike was just one of several community groups that got together for a Back to School Community Day.
Organizers said it's important to support local kids who may not always have positive role models.
“We also want them to know that there is a great future ahead of them, and we want them to understand that,” said Deonna Davis, the event host. “This right here is just something positive we want to instill in them. To make sure they know other people care about them and their well-being."
Kids got a free haircut, a backpack filled with supplies, and food.
