Battle Of The Badges Encourages Blood Donations

Posted

Officers and firefighters have started prepping for the annual "Get and Give Battle of the Badges" between the Metro Nashville Police, Fire and Davidson County Sheriff's.

Officials held a press conference Tuesday to announce the beginning of the competition and encourage blood donations.

The Saint Thomas blood drive competition pits the law enforcement and fire departments against each other for the greater good.

Each year, the three departments battle it out to see who can bring in the most blood donations for the Red Cross.

Even through the competitive spirit, the departments wanted to show the importance of the drive to patients and the Red Cross, which is facing a shortage.

"Whichever entity you favor, the police department, the fire department, or the sheriff's office, please come in and give blood. The life you save might be somebody close to you, the life you save might be your own," said Chief Steve Anderson.

The battle was set to officially begin next Monday at Nissan Stadium from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
