SMITHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A beach along Center Hill Lake is being shut down after high bacteria levels were found in the water.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Friday Ragland Bottom Day Use Beach in Smithville has been closed.
The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching, but the beach has been closed.
Signs and caution tape have been put up warning the public not to swim at the beach.
Visitors who show up to the beach will be redirected to the Floating Mill Day Use Beach.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers say follow-up testing at the beach will continue until conditions go back to acceptable levels.
