Alexander, formally of Lipscomb University, will make the transition to Belmont to act as the men's head basketball coach in the coming season.

The announcement of the decision to hire Alexander was first made on Wednesday.
Alexander, 46, has gone 115-84 in six season at Lipscomb, including three straight seasons of 20 wins or more.
The deal that was agreed upon is worth $4 million dollars over five years, luring Alexander away from the Bruins’ arch-rival.
