NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A local singer and songwriter diagnosed with leukemia will be honored Tuesday night with a benefit concert in Nashville.
About 52 artists who have sang or co-written songs with Ava Paige will participate in the concert which will be held at 3rd and Lindsey Bar & Grill starting at 6 p.m.
Paige, 14, of Mt. Juliet was diagnosed with the blood cancer in July. Since then, she's spent about 45 days in the hospital but has not let her diagnosis dampen her spirits.
"There's a reason why I'm going through this and hopefully my story can help someone else and hopefully I'll keep fighting just for that," Paige said.
Paige's earlier memories about the music industry include singing karaoke with Kelly Clarkson at the age of 10. She said that she has written nearly 500 songs even some while in the hospital. She said her biggest songwriter influences include Brandy Clark, Travis Meadows, Chris Stapleton, and Ashley McBride.
"Ashley McBride was so kind enough to come in and actually have a chat and she texts me all the time while on the road and sends me pictures of her cats," Paige said.
Angie Davis said she is her daughter's biggest fan. The journey in and out of the hospital has been emotional.
"It's hard because you never want to see your child go through this and hurt. It was a shock, I wish I had a healthy girl...but it's inspiring because of the out pour of love but that shows you who she is as a person and it makes me proud that we've raised such a beautiful daughter who has touched so many people," Davis said.
Tickets for the benefit concert cost $20. You can purchase tickets here or at the door.
Paige also has a GoFundMe account set up to help with medical expenses.
