NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A benefit at Zanies Comedy Club raised money for the family of a teenager, who tragically died earlier this summer.

Zanies presented "Bumps, Bruises, and Bedtime Stories." Thursday night.

It was a show created for Mitchell Mielnik, the 16-year-old who passed away suddenly in June.

People in attendance could bid on items in a silent auction, and four NHL stars took the stage to share stores and experiences from their time on the ice.

Mitchell made a huge impact on the Nashville Hockey community as a defenseman for both the Hume Fogg and Junior Predators hockey teams.

"I have children and I couldn't imagine coming home from a hospital, going to your house and have an empty bedroom," said Mielnik's former coach, Andrew Dorfman. "Then go to the mailbox and have hospitals hounding you; it's a horrible thing, and what we can do to help him is worth it."

Another benefit was planned for Friday night as well. Doors were set to open at 6p.m. for those 16 and older.

All of the sales from the benefit were given to Mitchell's family to help with medical expenses.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up for the Mielnik family. You can donate to it by clicking here.
