Friends and family members held a benefit walk for a Mt. Juliet teen who survived a stroke in 2015.
Alex Pearson, age 17, suffered a stroke caused by a rare brain aneurysm. As a result, his speech, right side of his body, and cognitive thinking were affected.
The benefit walk was held at Charlie Daniels Park Saturday afternoon. Pearson led a group of people, including other stroke survivors, and walked around the park.
Money raised will go towards helping Pearson attend a specialized therapy clinic in California.
His mother Kathy Pearson said she hopes to have her son attend the clinic in a few months to help improve his walking and the use of his right arm.
"We love our community, and our church family, and our school family, and we realized just how much people love him. It's very cool," Kathy said.
