BERRY HILL, Tenn. - A Berry Hill police officer was sent to the hospital after being assaulted by a man on a skateboard.
The incident happened on Franklin Pike near Inverness Drive just after 12 a.m. Sunday.
Sergeant David Gross said Dustin Perkins was riding his skateboard across traffic, narrowly being missed by cars, when Gross stopped him.
As the officer tried to pat down Perkins, Perkins allegedly cursed at the officer and started to pull away.
When Gross tried to stop him, Gross said Perkins pushed him into a metal pole.
Other officers soon arrived on the scene and arrested Perkins after a short chase.
Perkins was charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Gross was taken to the hospital with minor cuts.
