BERRY HILL, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been charged after allegedly hitting a Berry Hill police officer with his vehicle.

It happened Monday evening when the Berry Hill officer responded to a shoplifting report at One Hundred Oaks Mall.

According to an arrest affidavit, 27-year-old Lamonterrio Murphy was trying to get away from police in his red Chevy Camaro. Police said they instructed him to get out of the car, when he put it in drive and hit Berry Hill Officer Thornsberry.

The officer suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

Murphy was arrested and booked into the Davidson County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and driving with a suspended license.
