Police have been called out to investigate a body that was found in overgrown grass off the side of Charlotte Pike.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said a call came in around 2:30 p.m. Monday after the body was discovered off the roadway near 25th Avenue North.

The body was apparently discovered by landscape crews who were working in the area.

Details about the condition of the body or how long it had been there were not known. It was believed the body had been there for one to two weeks.

Investigators were working to determine the person’s identity. They did not say if the victim was male or female.

Charlotte Pike was not closed, but the right shoulder was blocked by several police cruisers in the area.

The shoulder north of the intersection was blocked off with police tape while defectives worked to gather clues.
It was too early to know if foul play was suspected.

The medical examiner was headed to the scene to conduct an investigation.
