Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said no foul play was suspected in the recovery of a man's body out of the Cumberland River early Saturday morning.

The decomposing body was found by U.S. Coast Guardsmen under the Martin Luther King Bridge in North Nashville near Clarksville Highway at 1 a.m.

Officers believed it may have been a 45-year-old homeless man who was last seen Christmas Day swimming from Riverfront Park toward the east bank.

No foul play was suspected. The Medical Examiner’s Office will assist in confirming the identification as well as work to determine the cause of death.
