GILES COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — The body of a missing Elk River boater who had been missing for nearly two weeks was recovered in Giles County Friday.
Robert Newsome, 51, of Elkton, Tennessee had been missing since March 15, after he failed to return after launching a canoe on Elk River.
The TWRA, local rescue crews, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Alabama Water Rescue crews worked for several days to locate Newsome.
The recovery took place about one mile into Alabama. An autopsy is scheduled.
