Female body pulled out of Cumberland River

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro Police say a female body was recovered from the Cumberland River in West Nashville Saturday afternoon.

The body was first discovered by an off duty Metro officer who was jet skiing in the area.

The woman is described as a black woman who appears to be in her 40s. She was naked wearing just a turquoise elephant earring when she was found. The woman's body has a ying/yang tattoo with wings on her left shoulder.

Investigators she has a laceration on her leg and head trauma. They also say it's too early to say if they will be treating this as a homicide investigation.

A medical examiner will determine her cause of death.
