BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WTVF) — Police responded to a call about a woman laying on the sidewalk Durbin Drive near Glen Lily Road, but later determined she fell on her own knife.
When officers got there, they found 71-year-old Shirley L. Brince. She was conscious and had lost a lot of blood from a wound in her side.
First responders gave her aid and she was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injury.
Video footage from a surveillance camera nearby showed Brince, who was walking alone on Durbin Drive, fall to the ground. The people in two different vehicles apparently saw her fall and stopped to help her up then left the area.
Brince walked a short distance and fell again. Detectives believe she fell on the bag she was carrying over her shoulder which had a knife inside. She fell with enough force to drive the knife into her side ultimately causing her death.
Detectives want to talk to the occupants of both vehicles to learn of their interactions with her. No criminal charges are expected to be made.
