Boy asks for 'letter that will bring him hope' in Christmas list

SPRING HILL, Tenn. (WTVF) — One boy's Christmas list has gone viral because of what he has asked for - something that will bring him hope.

Matthew is 13 years old and he stays at the Tennessee Children's Home in Spring Hill.

In his wish list, he wrote:

"1. Shoes size 11
2. A PS4 game
3. A letter that will bring me hope."

Matthew has already received more than one thousand letters of hope in just a matter of days.

Chris Doughtie with Tennessee Children's Home says Matthew received letters from across the country.

"He's got a lot of encouragement from that," Doughtie said. "He's got new friends he can write back to if he chooses to and communicate with them, he's really excited about that."

Doughtie says Matthew wrote a thank you letter to every person who responded to his wish.
