NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The multi-talented Brandi Carlile leads the Americana Honors and Awards with seven nominations across the board as a solo artist, a member of The Highwomen, a producer and a songwriter.
It was a busy year for the Grammy-winner, who produced and wrote Tanya Tucker's comeback album and performed with The Highwomen. Also leading in nominations for the Sept. 16 awards show is rocker Brittany Howard, who is up for five nominations including artist of the year and album of the year for her solo record “Jaime.”
The late John Prine, who died in April from COVID-19 complications, is nominated for artist of the year.
