BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WTVF) — The seventh annual Battle of the Badges is being held this week in Brentwood.
This year's event honors the life of fallen police officer Destin Legieza, who was killed earlier this summer in a crash while he was on duty.
Battle of the Badges blood drive is a national rivalry among first responder groups to help raise the blood supply ahead of the holiday season. This week's competition will be participated by the Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department, the Brentwood Police Department, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and the Fraternal Order of Police.
The event will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library.
Last year, 322 pints of blood were donated. This year, the departments are aiming to collect more than 347 pints.
If you would like to donate blood, walk-ins are welcome or you can make an appointment by contacting the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROSS and using sponsor code: brentwoodbattleofthebadges.
