A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle on State Route 155 North in Nashville.

It happened Monday just after 5:30 p.m. at Exit 3 for I-24. The victim was identified as 44-year-old Chad McAmis, of Nashville.

Metro Nashville police said McAmis had been soliciting at the I-24 off ramp to Briley Parkway just before the collision.

According to police, the preliminary investigation shows that McAmis was walking on Briley Parkway in a traffic lane when he was struck by an eastbound Ford Mustang. The impact threw him into the second eastbound traffic lane, where he was hit by a Chevrolet Impala and a Toyota Camry.

Investigators said the three drivers were not injured and were not impaired. McAmis died at the scene.

Police said the preliminary contributing factor in the crash appears to be McAmis’ presence in the traffic lane.
