Stores Offering Deals for Small Business Saturday

Crowds swarmed the "Shoppes on Fatherland" in East Nashville to get some early holiday shopping done.

Small business Saturday started back in 2010 after small businesses were hurt by the economic recession. For business owners like Charlie Accavallo,  the event is a way to help keep their stores up and running.

"This is by far our busiest day of the year," said Charlie Accavallo, the owner of Rusty Rats Antiques and Vintage store.

New stores like active-wear boutique "Longevity" say it’s a great way for them to showcase their merchandise to customers.

"It brings in a lot of people and everyone gets to support locals and buy gifts for Christmas," said Katrice Depew, sales associate of Longevity.
