LEBANON, Tenn. (WTVF) — Juveniles ranging from ages 15-17 were arrested after a high-speed pursuit ended in a crash on Interstate 40 in Wilson County.
The ordeal began around 12:15 a.m. Monday on West Main Street in Lebanon when an officer noticed a car traveling 52 mph in a 30-mph speed zone.
He ran the tag number and realized the Chevrolet Cruze had been stolen out of Nashville. He tried to pull the car over but the driver continued onto Interstate 40 westbound, reaching speeds more than 95 mph.
Due to heavy rain, road conditions and speed, officials said the pursuit was terminated at the 235 mile marker.
A deputy later spotted the crashed vehicle a few miles down the road.
It’s unclear how many suspects were taken into custody. Investigators said the driver fled the scene on foot.
