The steeple of the First Baptist Church in Carthage was blown off by strong winds when a storm passed through the area.
It happened Wednesday morning. The church's secretary told NewsChannel 5 she didn't even hear it when it happened.
She said someone who passed by saw the steeple on the ground and called to notify the church. An
Associate Pastor did hear it, but thought it was thunder.
Nothing was damaged inside the building except from a small bit of roof damage where a bolt came loose.
The steeple, which was made of fiberglass will have to replace. Wednesday night services will go on as normal.
