Criminal charges were pending against the driver involved in a triple fatal crash in Montgomery County.
The incident happened at 3:30 a.m. Sunday on Highway 12, just south of Clarksville.
Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said 44-year-old Jeffery Joiner was traveling southbound when he crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.
Three people in that car – identified as 20-year-old Megan Black, 19-year-old Shayna Williams and 21-year-old Randall Pierce – were killed in the crash.
Investigators said none of them were wearing their seatbelts. However, they said safety restraints would not have made a difference.
It’s unclear at this time what charges were pending.
