HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A child psychologist for Cheatham County Schools has been arrested in Florida on child pornography charges.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said 51-year-old Richard Pitcock, of Ashland City, was arrested Tuesday night at a Hollywood area hotel after child porn was found on his computer.
Pitcock, a licensed school psychologist with the Cheatham County School District, was arrested on 25 counts of possession of child porn and one count of using a computer to compile child porn.
Detectives said the arrest was made after it was discovered that someone was sharing or advertising child porn via the internet at various hotels in the area. The investigation led them to the St. Maurice Inn, where Pitcock was staying.
Investigators said 25 sexually explicit images of children were found on his computer. Additional storage devices were collected and will be analyzed.
According to a release, the district released a statement, saying:
“The Cheatham County School District’s top priority is the safety and well-being of its students. We take allegations of illegal activity very seriously, and we are taking the appropriate steps to ensure our students are protected. We will be cooperating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.”
