Child suffers life-threatening injuries after being hit by truck

GRAYSON, Ky. (WTVF) — An 11-year-old was sent to to the hospital with critical injuries after being hit by a truck while riding his bicycle.

It happened Monday evening around 5:30 on Millerstown Road in Grayson.

Police say 62-year-old Debra Boone of Caneyville was driving west near the 1800 block of Millerstown Road in a 2010 Cadillac SUV when the 11-year-old boy drove his bike onto the road and into the path of Boone’s vehicle.

According to officials, even though Boone tried to avoid the boy, she couldn't and hit him.

The child was airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital with life threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition. The driver was not injured.

Officers shut down Millerstown Road for about two hours while Kentucky State Police Troopers reconstructed the crash.

KSP was assisted at the scene by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkson Police Department, Clarkson Fire Department and Grayson County EMS. The crash is still under investigation.
