CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The City of Clarksville will host a drive-thru Christmas parade this year due to the ongoing pandemic.

For this year's parade, participants will line the road and citizens will instead drive through the event. It will be held on December 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.

"We wanted to sustain the tradition but be mindful of everyone's safety, so the decision to make it a drive-by parade was a good compromise," said Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts. "I look forward to seeing everyone out for the parade, but staying safe in their vehicles with their family members."

Several roads will be closed on the day of the parade. The city said both southbound lanes and the center turning lane of Riverside Drive will be closed from 12 to 8 p.m. and left turns onto Riverside Drive from McClure and Jefferson Street will not be allowed.
