CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Clarksville family is hoping to find a kidney donor for their 2-year-old son.

Although to the naked eye Diego Reyes looks like a strong and healthy two-year-old boy, he's actually has a rare disease.

Diego was born with a condition known as Denys-Drash syndrome and he is in need of a kidney transplant.

"It'll make his kidneys fail probably before the age of five," mom Brittany Reyes said.

Reyes currently takes five different medications every day and visits the doctor regularly for tests and checkups. He's also already had two surgeries.

Diego is O positive and although he has five siblings, no members of his family are a match to donate.

The goal is to get Diego a kidney transplant within the next year. This will lower the risk of him also getting kidney cancer.

You can check if you're a match by answering this survey.
