A Clarksville man has been charged in a crash that killed a 21-year-old motorcyclist.

The crash happened on March 17 at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Tiny Town Road.

Officials with Clarksville Police said Austin McElwrath was driving a 2005 Suzuki Forenza when he was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Tyler Pettie.

McElwrath was taken to Vanderbilt Hospital where he died from his injuries.

At the time of the crash, police said Pettie was traveling 65 mph in a 45 zone and had prescription medications present in his blood.

Pettie was taken into custody on Thursday after being indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on charges of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and speeding. His bond was set at $75,000.
