CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – More than 200 Vietnam veterans got the welcome home parade they said never received, but always wanted more than forty years ago.

It was a "Welcome Home" more than forty years in the making for a group veterans.

When the soldiers came home shortly after the fall of Saigon back in the '70's, they said they didn't get a parade.

Community members of the city of Clarksville lined the streets of Liberty Park Tuesday morning to give the men the welcome home parade they never received. Some came from as far away as Alaska.

“To be able to get together and see all of our brothers and sisters that we haven't seen in so many years, it just fills our heart,” said Barry Rice with the Vietnam Veterans Association.

The event was organized by Visit Clarksville, the Tennessee State Council of Vietnam Veterans of America, the USO and US Tours.
