1 Arrested In Clarksville Fatal Shooting On Nolen Road

A suspect has been arrested after a man was killed in a late night shooting in Clarksville. 

Officers were called to the scene at The Verge in the 1500 block of Nolen Road around 10 p.m. Tuesday. 

Police said the victim was found shot inside a vehicle. He was taken to Tennova Medical Center, but he did not survive. Thursday morning, authorities identified the victim as 30-year-old James Wells, of Clarksville.

Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said the scene was processed and witnesses were interviewed.

Through the investigation, authorities learned the shooting happened during a drug transaction, and they identified the suspect as 22-year-old Shundarion Taylor.

Taylor had reportedly met with Wells to buy drugs, but an altercation ensued and Wells was shot in the back.

A handgun was later found at Taylor's home with an expended shell casing in the chamber.

Taylor was booked into the Montgomery County Jail around 9 pm. Wednesday. He was charged with criminal homicide. A bond had not yet been set.
