CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — 31-year-old Rose Pauls has been arrested after lying about being robbed to Clarksville police.

According to Clarksville Police Department, they received a report from Pauls about being robbed while out jogging on Nat Hoosier Lane on Tuesday, April 2 around 9 p.m.

Residents in the area expressed concerns about such a robbery happening in their neighborhood. To facilitate public safety, the police sent out a safety alert and releases for media coverage.

Detectives worked the case for several days, and their investigation - as well as tips from Crime Stoppers - provided information that seemed to debunk the Pauls' story about being robbed. Further information pointed to Pauls actually being at a bar at the time of the reported robbery.

The detective in charge of the case was able to confirm that Pauls had in fact been at a bar, had not been attacked while jogging as originally claimed, and that the story had been fabricated.

Pauls was booked into Montgomery County Jail and charged with false report. Her bond is set at $5,000.
